Simply Challenged Challenge June 7 - Inner Betty

Hello, all! Time for the challenges to start over at Simply Challenged Challenges with Simply B Stamps! There will be a new challenge every week and you'll have all month long to complete them!

Here's the link to the challenge: Inner Betty Challenge

Your challenge is to create a project using any of the 'Betty' images from SBS to show us your Inner Betty, we want to see what Betty's images mean to you, so you might want to make a fun and quirky card, or something spooky and beautiful, it's up to you!!

This is my Inner Betty:

Betty Liberty Card. My Inner Betty Image couldn't have been more perfect for me. She is full of personality, panache, and patriotism! I love that at Simply B Stamps you can always find the perfect stamp for unique projects! I used this Betty to make a birthday card for one of my aunts, whose birthday is the 5th of July. The sentiment inside says "Hope your day is filled with fireworks!" I used plain cardstock in white, red, and blue, some random star stamps I had in my stash, and some fireworks paper from The Paper Studio. I also used some star stickers from The Paper Studio and Stickles in Christmas Red and Diamond.

Copics I used for Betty Liberty: E29, E35, E37, N2, R01, R20, R32, R59, Y02, Y15, YG41, YR02, YR04, YR68

The flourishes are from My Mind's Eye and I used some Distress Inks in Antique Linen, Old Paper, Worn Lipstick, and Evergreen Bough to distress the edges. I used the below Copics to color in the image.

Hey, Jude! Some News!

Hello, all! I've got some exciting news to share with you all today. I was chosen to join the Simply Challenged Design Team for Simply B Stamps! Make sure you check out the challenge blog and Simply B Stamps for some quirky, fun images and challenges!

Not only do I get to announce that I'm a part of a new DT today but I can also let you see a couple of creations I made with the new stamp release from the Outdoors Jude and the Rockers collection! To celebrate the new DT, Betty has not one but two new releases this weekend!

You Make the World Go Round Card. This little guy is Squeekin' Jude. I think he is so adorable with a squirrel perched on his hat. I created the card for the card challenge over at sb.com. The papers are all from Echo Park's This and That Charming collection. I used the copics listed below to color this cutie in.

B39, B45, E11, E13, E18, E29, E31, E33, E35, E37, N0, N2, N4, RV13, Y02, Y06, YG67, YG91

Adventure Card. This beauty is Which Way Brittany. When I saw her I KNEW she had to be a ginger. She's adorable with her little fawn. The papers are all from a Martha Stewart travel paper pack that I've had in my stash for years. I had to put her and her friend on an outdoorsy background. When I finished the card, there was something missing and so I decided to add some Liquid Pearl flourishes to create a breeze. I used copics to color Brittany and the fawn.

B00, B02, E00, E15, E18, G85, R20, RV13, RV34, YG67, YR04, YR07, YR61, YR68

I hope you enjoyed these cards and that you will take a look at the new Simply Challenged Blog. The first challenge will be on June 7 and weekly after that. Make sure you take a look at all the new releases as well!

Simply Betty 12 Days of Christmas - Day 2

For the Smeared Ink 12 Days of Christmas - Day 3, scroll down one post.

Hello, all! It's Day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas over at Simply Betty! Today's challenge is to use a spooky tree in your creation.

Here is the challenge description: (to view it over at Simply Betty's and check out the DT's creations, click here)

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

You all know that Christmas Carol right?

Well here in SBS land we follow the Nightmare Before Christmas SCAROLS instead!

So today we have a song inspired challenge for you...

Old Mansion Tree.. it goes something like this...

“Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

Your leaves are sharp and Prickly

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

You bring a gloom that’s sickly!”

Your branches droop with moldy care

Your smell of mildew fills the air

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

You clear the room so quickly!

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

Oh how we decorate you

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

With ornaments we weigh you

Your limbs and limp with bats and bows

Your tinsel tarnished years ago

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

A fire place awaits you!”

Pretty fun yeah? I love singing this Christmas Scarol during the Halloween/Christmas season at Disneyland, they play it outside of the ride as guests wait to get into the Haunted Mansion that is all decked out with Nightmare Before Christmas!

You are challenged to create a project with a Scary Christmas tree!

Adorn it with spiders, bats, and pumpkins!
Prize:
One Non Released Digi from our _____________________ line! Imagine, you will be the first (aside from the DT and I) to see this new image for our upcoming release, which may NOT be available in digi form. You don't want to miss this awesome Prize! Minimum of 6 participants for this prize. If we have less than 6 participants, the prize will not be issued. It will go into a large end of the 12 days prize, we will put the participants of the challenges that had less than 6 in a large drawing at the end and that person will will everything that was not issued!

Here is what I created for this challenge:

Christmas Card. I used the same Simply Betty Stamp as I did for the card in the post below, but colored her differently. I gave her a black tree to decorate. I used some papers I bought from Simply Betty's Shop in a kit. I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to make metal stitches around the card, to give it an edgier feel. The little piece of red ribbon just gives this card that extra pop of red.

Day 29 (10) - 31 (12) Days of Halloween

Hello, all! It's Day 29 of the 31 Days of Halloween! Today I have a project for both Day 29 of the 31 Days of Halloween over at Smeared and Smudged and for Day 10 of the 12 Days of Halloween over at Simply Betty Stamps.

On the tenth day of Halloween...
...My true love gave to me
Ten ghouls a-groaning
Nine ghosts a-booing
Eight monsters shrieking
Seven pumpkins glowing
Six goblins gobbling
Five scary spooks!
Four skeletons
Three black cats
Two trick or treaters
And an owl in a rotten oak tree!

Ghouls Rule Card. I used my October Scraps of Darkness All Hallows Eve kit for this card. The tombstone paper is from Moxxie. The gravestones and tree are images I got from an old coloring book. The ghoul is from Simply Betty Stamps and the alphas are from Thickers.

Day 10 - 31 Days of Halloween

Hello, all! It's Day 10 of the 31 Days of Halloween over at Smeared and Smudged! And here's another Halloween card for you! This one has a gorgeous image from Simply Betty Stamps called Witchy Wednesday. She's so pretty!

Halloween Party Card. I wanted to make Witchy Wednesday a bit on the glamorous side for this card. She's going to a party after all. So I added a lot of Stickles to her and the card. Even her kitty has some glitter! I don't remember which company makes the papers or the clear sticker I used since I've had these for a while now. I colored the stamps with my Copics and added some shear purple ribbon from my stash. Then I thought she could use a starry night and added an old star barrette that my daughters had from a long time ago and the Stickle stars for her.

Day 8 - 31 Days of Halloween

Hello, all! Time for another card for the 31 Days of Halloween!

Boo Card. Don't you think this ghost boy is adorable? He's from The Octopode Factory and he is just so much fun! I colored him in with my Copics, cut him out, and glued him down on a piece of paper from the My Mind's Eye Spider's Web collection. The alphas are puffy Thickers and the flowers are from my stash. I got them so long ago, I don't remember what company manufactured them. I added some Platinum Liquid Pearls to the web to give it a little bling.

Day 7 - 31 Days of Halloween

Hello, all! I hope you are finding yourselves well as we round out the first week of the 31 Days of Halloween over at Smeared and Smudged! For today's project I have created a Halloween card. This is just the first of many...I just couldn't help making cards with the fabulous digital stamps I have found from several Internet stamp companies. And I am not usually one to make cards. Now I just wish I could get that excited over Christmas digi stamps so that I could finish all my Christmas cards on time for once!

Here is my card for today:

I Love My Mummy Card. I know this is a bit corny.... lol...but I saw this stamp from The Octopode Factory and this is all that would come into my mind. I used my Copics to color in the mummy and I layered black cardstock on white then stitched it together. I cut the alphas and the heart with my Cricut Expression and stamped "Trick or Treat" onto the heart. I then stamped tiny bats onto the background with opaque white ink.

Metal Mania and Scraps of Darkness

Hello, all! Today I have a challenge to share with you all. It's time for another Smudgy Antics Challenge and this week the topic is Metal Mania! Here is the description below:

Yay for a new weekly challenge! We're so excited to see some new players coming out of the woodworks, as well as our regular players; we hope you are enjoying the themes! Please feel free to pass on the info to anyone who you think would be interested in playing. All styles are welcome and as we always say, the more the merrier!

As always, here's a reminder about the rules:

*Each Monday morning a new challenge will be posted. It will contain that week's theme and prize information.

*To participate, you must make a project that fits the theme and add it to the post using the Inlinkz linky. Your link must take us directly to your project on a publicly accessible blog or website, or it will be disqualified - so please make sure you're linking to your actual post. It must be linked by midnight on the following Saturday, Pacific Time. This gives you six days to complete the challenge.

*Your project can be anything (card, scrapbook page, mixed media, altered or 3-D item, etc) as long as it is handmade and stamped somewhere with either a rubber or digital stamp. We have taken into consideration our digital artist fans and will be allowing all-digi projects. Feel free to think outside the box and have fun with your project! We are all about looking at things differently and look forward to the variety of projects and mediums we are sure to see.

*You must use AT LEAST 1 Smeared Ink image on your project. You are allowed to use anything else that you like.

*The weekly winner will be chosen by random number and revealed on Sunday. Prizes will vary and may range from a free digi to a coupon to a blog badge.

So let's get to it! Here's this week's info.

The Challenge:

METAL MANIA

This one is easy: Use metal in your project! It can be a piece of metal, a metal base, a metal color, or even Heavy Metal (for all you headbangers out there).

Here is my example:

Time Waits for No Man 8X8 Layout. I recently found an old stash of photos that I took in some cemeteries years ago. I find tombstones very beautiful and interesting... what can I say? So I decided I'd create an album just for them but I didn't want to do the regular 12X12 this time, so I am doing 8X8 and I find that I am loving the size. So here is my first page: I used a Smeared Ink Stamp (It's About Time Pocket Watch Digi) and colored it in with Copics. The papers are from the DCWV Tattered Time stack. I used some Prima flowers and Webster's Pages Bloomers. The gears are Tim Holtz and colored with Pitch Black Alcohol Ink and the title letters are Thickers.

If you'd like to see more examples and/or join in on this challenge, please stop by the Sumdgy Antics Blog!

And here is a little project using my Scraps of Darkness August Kit - Envy! This is for the Stalker Challenge over at the S.O.D. forum and this month the challenge was to create a card.

Live Brightly Card. This card was created completely using the Scraps of Darkness Envy Kit for August. I love the nature-inspired feel of these papers and wanted to create something that reminded me of the outdoors. I used a card sketch from The Color Room for this.

Tea Time Tuesday

Hello, all! So I was wondering what to make for today's Tea Time and I was looking through my ever-growing paper stash and came upon some papers and stickers I bought quite a while back. I got the bright idea to make an Easter card from one of the stickers. I may be alone in this but I associate the White Rabbit with the Easter Bunny! I know I'm a little obsessed. Lol!

Time for Easter card. I used Bazzill Swiss Dot cardstock in blue, pink and white cardstock, and pink striped paper. I punched the paper with a lacey border punch; die cut some shapes for the sentiment base and title letters; added ribbon and bow, some mini roses, and a ton of stickles in Waterfall, Distress Worn Lipstick, and Stardust.
