Mourning Glory - Smudgy Antics Challenge

Hello, all! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday with their family and friends. It's time for another Smudgy Antics Challenge. This week's challenge is "Mourning Glory."

Here is the challenge write up over at Smudgy Antics:

I hope everyone that celebrates it had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We have another challenge for you this week and we can't wait to see what you come up with!

Here's a reminder about the rules:

*Each Monday morning a new challenge will be posted. It will contain that week's theme and prize information.

*To participate, you must make a project that fits the theme and add it to the post using the Inlinkz linky. Your link must take us directly to your project on a publicly accessible blog or website, or it will be disqualified - so please make sure you're linking to your actual post. It must be linked by midnight on the following Saturday, Pacific Time. This gives you six days to complete the challenge.

*Your project can be anything (card, scrapbook page, mixed media, altered or 3-D item, etc) as long as it is handmade and stamped somewhere with either a rubber or digital stamp. We have taken into consideration our digital artist fans and will be allowing all-digi projects. Feel free to think outside the box and have fun with your project! We are all about looking at things differently and look forward to the variety of projects and mediums we are sure to see.

*You may use any stamped image, however only projects using at least one Smeared Ink image will be eligible to win a prize. Encourage your crafty friends to come play with us!

*You can only enter and qualify for a prize if you are, or become, a follower of the blog. While you're at it, why not visit the forum as well for more challenges?

*The weekly winner will be chosen by random number and revealed on Sunday. Prizes will vary and may range from a free digi to a coupon to a blog badge.

So let's get to it! Here's this week's info.

The Challenge: Mourning Glory

(make a project using graves, churchyards, etc.)

Here is my DT example for this challenge:

Mourn 8 X 8 Layout. As some of you know already, I like visiting old cemeteries and taking photos of tombstones. This is another photo of mine for my cemetery album. I used papers from the DCWV Ghosts & Goblins paper pack. The skeletons stamp is from Smeared Ink. The flowers are from Prima. I added some Liquid Pearls in Cantaloupe on the alphas, which are Thickers and as dots on the flourishes.

I hope you all will join in on the challenge!

Punky Scraps Get Picky Challenge

Hello, all! Time for another Punky Scraps Challenge! It's a Get Picky Challenge and this one is going to make you want to join in, it's so much fun! I love creating with a list of products or materials like this because it always makes me think outside the box and put things together that I wouldn't normally. Take a look at what I made for this Get Picky Challenge at Punky Scraps, then pop on over to the blog so you can look at all the fabulous DT creations and join in on the fun!

Here is the Get Picky List that was used for this month.

Make a page from the following ingredients:
  • Stars
I used lots of stars (stamped in the background, cut out of cardstock and covered with tissue tape, star rhinestones)
  • No patterned paper
I used black and white cardstock
  • Masking
I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil with opaque white ink on the background
  • Staples
I used mini staples on each of the corners
  • Exposed cardboard
I cut out a moon and some stars from cardboard
  • Book page
I used a page from one of my favorite story books (a duplicate copy), Alice in Wonderland
  • Bottle cap
Did not use bottle caps
  • Washi tape
I did not use washi tape but used tissue tape instead

Baby Mine Layout. I created this page, trying to get a dreamland, sleepy feel to it. I think I did okay. The photo is of my son sleeping when he was a couple of months old. I think he looked so sweet sleeping that I wanted to put the picture in a dreamy page.

The Challenge: Dear Heart

(use or make a heart)
Here is my sample for this challenge:

A Caged Heart Card. For this card I used Smeared Inks' Heavy Metal - Open Corset digital stamp. I stamped flourishes along the borders of the card with some stamps from my stash, cut a heart out with my Cricut Expression, and colored the corset with my Copics. I also ran some red velvet ribbon at the top and the bottom of the card, added flowers from Prima and Recollections, and added a printed out title.

Punky Scraps Challenge 34

Hello, all! It's Friday...which means there is a new challenge posted at Punky Scraps. This week it's a sketch challenge. I had a lot of fun with this sketch and hope some of you will use it for inspiration on one of you projects! Here is the sketch and the layout I created with it:

Punky Scraps Challenge 34 Sketch.

Autumn Layout. I turned the sketch on its side and created a LO using fall colors and leaves. I used my Cricut Expression to cut out all the leaves and inked them up with coordinating Distress Inks. The flourishes are handmade with acrylic and liquid pearls. The papers are from GCD and The Paper Studio. The photo is one I took on an autumn family outing that we had while we still lived in Wisconsin. The horse was pulling a wagon for an apple orchard tour.

Make sure to stop by Punky Scraps to view all the other wonderful pages inspired by the above sketch!

A Little Steamy Blog Hop

Hello, all! Let's have some fun today with Smeared and Smudged' Monthly Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Blog Hop organized by Smeared and Smudged Blog! The theme this month is A Little Steamy. Use images, pieces, or parts that embrace the steampunk genre.

Here is the A Little Steamy Blog Hop - Blog Roll:

Here is what I created for the hop:

A Little Steamy Card. I created this card last night, rather quickly (because to tell the truth, I was out of the house all day and had forgotten about the hop). But I love everything Steampunk, and have loads of products to choose from in my stash. So I looked through all my stamps and realized I had never used this one by Simply Betty Stamps. I colored her with Copics and set her on an inked piece of paper from the DCWV Tattered Time stack. The inks are Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord. The flowers are all from Recollections and the title was printed from my computer.

I hope you will join us in all the steamy fun!

(All posts should be up by 9:00 am Pacific Time)

Punky Scraps Challenge 33

Hello, all! Time for another challenge over at Punky Scraps! I only participate every other month over there as part of the DT but let me tell you, if you want inspiration and a chance to win great prizes, go on over and participate in the challenges! There are usually three challenges a month and all of them are so much fun! Here is a description of Challenge 33:

Hello all and welcome to November on the Punky Scraps blog. For the first challenge of the month, we have two pieces of inspiration for you this week!
First of all, a quote which you can use in full or interpret in your own way:

And then this photo (don't you just love the splashes of colour against the dark background?)

Here is what I created using the two inspiration pieces:

Forget & Move On Layout. The quote above made me think about how sometimes I over think and worry about things that I cannot change. I think I need to remember that sometimes I will just have to forget about those pieces and move on with my life. The papers are from DCWV's Colorful Life 8 X 8 paper stack. I cut four pages into 6 X 6 squares and untied them on top of some cardstock. Then I splattered and stamped paints on it, added a few stars, and some TH fragments stippled with Alcohol inks. The alphas are chipboard alphas that I had in my stash. I then cut up some of the photo to represent pieces that I need to leave behind.

To check out the other DT entries, just pop on over to Punky Scraps!
