Beyond the Burtoneaque Dolls Challenge #8 - Fairy Tales

Hello, all! Talk about last minute! I just completed this card to enter in the Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #8 - Fairy Tales. Sorry for the dark picture. But I really wanted to enter this challenge and and didn't have the time to wait till morning and better light.

Our challenge today is nice and simple... Re-create your favorite Fairy Tale, but give it a wicked, grunge, funky, fun, and scary Twist! Simple yeah?

This is my take on a twisted Fairy Tale. In my version of Hansel and Gretel, the witch gets to eat the greedy little kids that were eating her house! Lol.

Playing Catch Up...

Hello, all! This month is a short one. Normally a month seems to fly by but this one was non-existent! I am trying to play catch up on some of the challenges I signed up for this month and I still failed to complete them all. I really need to get into my scraproom more often. So here are some projects that I created this month.

Flame-haired Layout. This is a photo of my youngest daughter when she first dyed her hair red. I think it's a wonderful color for her; fits her personality... Lol. This is for the Monochrome Challenge week 1 over at scrapbook.com. I used a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy and the papers are from Colorbok. I made a couple of roses out of ribbon and the rest of the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
Mother and Daughter 2 Page Layout. This is a 2 page layout I created for my cousin's pageant album. The photos are of her and her daughter participating in a mother/daughter pageant. The colors are in keeping with the requested color scheme. I used the sketch provided for the 2 Page Sketch Challenge over at scrapbook.com.
Mother and Daughter Page 1. A close up of the first page in the 2 Pager.
Mother and Daughter Page 2. A close up of the second page in the 2 Pager.
You Rock Layout. This is for my cousin's pageant album. I went for a wild and glam type page to showcase her daughter's "hip hop" look. I created the flourishes with liquid pearls and craft plastic. The papers are from Glitz Design and the alphas are some that I bought a VERY long time ago and never used. This is also for the Monochrome Challenge week 2.
Wedding Album Page. This is just one of the pages in a wedding album I making for one of my husband's friends and his soon-to-be-wife. I think it will make a wonderful wedding gift. I am entering this one in the Monochrome Challenge week 3.
Wedding Card. This is a card I made for the wedding couple that I am making the wedding album for. The stamp is from The Greeting Farm. The papers are from Bo Bunny's Enchanted collections and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I hope you enjoyed viewing these few projects. I will try and keep up from now on, and try to stagger my project posts. Lol. Thanks for stopping by.

Grungy Monday Challenge - Tim Holtz Wearable Art

Hello, all! It's been a long time since I participated in a Grungy Monday Challenge and I have missed them so! I really want to make them a priority in the future. So to begin participating again, I chose to start with this past week's challenge (Challenge #37): to create wearable art using Tim Holtz products.

Tim Holtz Wearable Art!

Jewelry, clothing, buttons and badges-- you're welcome to submit anything wearable, as long as you've incorporated at least one Tim Holtz product and/or technique. Idea-ology pieces are a natural fit for this challenge, but you could also decorate a T-shirt or scarf, make a hair ornament... there are so many options!

Curiouser Bracelet. I created this bracelet using Tim Holtz's Type Charms and a bracelet blank. I made it to inspire me to stay curious and show my love for Alice in Wonderland. I added some charms that remind me of Wonderland and will probably change out the skull and ring out once I find some tea cup and tea pot charms.

Punky Scraps - Sketchy Sketch!

Hello, all! Time for another challenge over at Punky Scraps! This time the challenge is using a sketch by Nat.

We have said goodbye to Camilla from sketch designing as she has now gone back to work!! Booo, but we will miss you :)

So, this months sketch comes from me and here it is:

Here is what I created using this sketch:

I loved this sketch! It was so much fun to work with. The mustache on the sketch made me want to use some papers from my stash from Echo Park that had mustaches on them and a photo of my BFF's husband when he tried to grow a mustache while in Iraq. My BFF and I thought it was funny and I decided to commemorate it in a scrap page. I used mists from Lindy's Stamp Gang in red, brown, and blue and made rosettes for the corners with my Vagabond and rosette die, then I added buttons from my stash.

Let's Get Sketchy!

Hello, all! I just found out about a new sketch challenge blog that I think is going to be a lot of fun. They are looking for DT for their design team and their sketch design team. If you're insterested in applying, just like I am. Here are the details and the link to the blog:

Let's Get Sketchy

Hello everyone and welcome to Lets Get Sketchy, a brand new sketch site! As scrappers we all LOVE sketches, it takes a lot of the pain out of scrapping! So I have decided to create a sketch site for that purpose and need your help.

To get started I am looking for a few talented and creative scrappers to be on my design team. If you like sketches then this is the site for you! I am looking for a design team AND and sketch team. Your terms would run March 1st through Sept. 1st. The design team would be asked to complete 2 layouts per month from a given sketch and the sketch team would only be asked to create newly sketches for Lets Get Sketchy.

If you are interested and would like to be considered for a position then here is what you need to do:

1. Create a layout from the sketch below

2. Post about the DT call on your blog along with your layout from the sketch

3. Leave a comment below telling me that you would like to be considered for a position and which position you are applying for. Make sure you include the link to your blog where your layout is and your email address.

4. Become a new follower and spread the word about the sketch blog!

No previous DT experience needed to apply. Call will be open until Feb. 13th and announcement made Feb 14th. The first challenge will go live March 1st!

I can't wait to see what you come up with! International members ARE welcome to apply!

Call sketch:

*What do we ask of our Designers?
Two projects per month – our challenges go live the 1st and 15th of each month.
Promote Let’s Get Sketchy wherever possible, for example on your personal blog, online communities.
Commit to a six month term with the possibility of extending this for another term.
Leave comments on all challenge entries <- this is super important and will be monitored
**What do our Designers get in return?
The gratification of showcasing your talent for all to see and be on the ground breaking floor of a new sketch site. Designers will have a permanent link to their blog (or homepage) on our site.

Here is what I created with the sketch above:

Steampunk Valentine (7 X 7). I created this using the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante Collection and a steampunk rubber stamp from Simply B Stamps. The flourishes are handmade with acetate and liquid pearls and I added stickles to the roses for some glimmer. The image is colored with Copics and I also added some steampunk stickers from Jolee's. The sentiment reads "You're the STEAM to my LOCAMOTIVE."

Steampunk Valentine with matching envelope. I used the same paper collection from Graphic 45 to create a matching envelope for this large card/layout. I chose this collection because it went with C.S.I case file #4 and to fit into my Steampunk Challenge over at scrapbook.com.

Tra La La & Rainbows - Punky Scraps Challenge 40

Hello, all! I am a day late in posting this; so very sorry for that. I really need to get myself back on track to being punctual again. I am here to share with you another challenge from Punky Scraps. This challenge is an inspiration challenge and gives you an inspiration photo to work with.

Welcome to February.......The month of love....PAH!! Bwahahaha, i'm such a misery....doesn't mean i'm not in love or anything....i just don't see all the money and hype behind St. Valentine's day!!

So it's doodles and rainbows for you this month and here is a picture to inspire you!!

Here is what I created with this inspiration:

So this picture, for me, inspired me to scrap a picture of my messy desk which was in complete and utter chaos for the start of the new year. The picture inspired me to use a rainbow of colors, splatters of black mist, clouds with writing on them, stripes, and a random variety of transparency designs. I am not completely happy with the turnout but I can say that I felt rather free creating this one.

To view the challenge and the DT creations, and to participate, please visit the Punky Scraps Blog, here.
