New Challenge! New Place!

Hello, everyone! A little change to the SBS challenges has occurred. The Design Teams for the Simply Challenged Challenges Blog and the Simply Steampunk Challenges Blog have been combined into one team and the Simply Challenged Challenges Blog has been discontinued. The DT members will be taking turns (in two different teams) on the challenges over at the Steampunk Challenges Site and work together to bring you new releases from SBS. Pretty exciting for me, since I happen to love coloring the Steampunk images so much!

So stick with me as I adjust to the change; won't be too different. And stop by regularly to see what I, and the rest of the DT has is store for you!

Go to the Simply Steampunk Challenges Blog for all the details. Here are some of them:

Challenges will now start on the 10th of each month.
Winners are announced when the next Challenge begins.. you may enter as many times as you like, BUT each entry must be new and follow the rules of the challenge.
you MUST use a Steampunk image.

The DT is using The Roberts Portraits
okay everyone ready for a new Challenge?
Make it Lacy, join in and have fun!
Winner will get 1 Steampunk image of choice,
MUST have 5 entries for the Challenge to get a prize.

Here is what I came up with using the Mr. Roberts Portrait from the collection:

For this card, I colored the image with Copics and used the "no lines" stamping technique. After I colored Mr. Roberts in I added an outline to the raven behind him and "stars" to the background, using a white Faber-Castell marker then going over them with more FC markers in various colors. The papers are from DCWV and the clocks are some transparencies I had in a box. I also added some dark red lace, tiny staples (with a Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher), and Liquid Pearls.

Thank you for stopping by! Make sure to check out  Team A DT's blogs, and let me know if you decide to enter the challenge!

Burlesque Bettys Sneak Peek - Preview Day 5

Hello, all! It's Day 5 of the preview days for the Burlesque Bettys Collection! Today we have a tantalizing image!

Well thank goodness for that or Betty Feathers may be giving you all a PEEP show, no peek a BOOB here! She's all covered up and ready to shake them tail feathers!

It's Betty Feathers! And my theme for today is the 4th of July!

Stand Up and Be Proud! I must say I am not completely happy about how this one came out. I do love how the image came out but the card seems to be lacking something. Hmmm....I'll figure it out, I'm sure. Well, other than that, I have to say Betty Feathers is one of my faves from this collection. She is just so cute and sassy!

I hope you are all enjoying these so far, remember that these will be our last big Shebang for 2012! I am looking forward to a New Year of SBS and new friends!

Of course before we get to the New Year, won't you please visit the other DT members and show them some support!? We sure do appreciate it ;)

Simply Challenged Challenge June 7 - Inner Betty

Hello, all! Time for the challenges to start over at Simply Challenged Challenges with Simply B Stamps! There will be a new challenge every week and you'll have all month long to complete them!

Here's the link to the challenge: Inner Betty Challenge

Your challenge is to create a project using any of the 'Betty' images from SBS to show us your Inner Betty, we want to see what Betty's images mean to you, so you might want to make a fun and quirky card, or something spooky and beautiful, it's up to you!!

This is my Inner Betty:

Betty Liberty Card. My Inner Betty Image couldn't have been more perfect for me. She is full of personality, panache, and patriotism! I love that at Simply B Stamps you can always find the perfect stamp for unique projects! I used this Betty to make a birthday card for one of my aunts, whose birthday is the 5th of July. The sentiment inside says "Hope your day is filled with fireworks!" I used plain cardstock in white, red, and blue, some random star stamps I had in my stash, and some fireworks paper from The Paper Studio. I also used some star stickers from The Paper Studio and Stickles in Christmas Red and Diamond.

Copics I used for Betty Liberty: E29, E35, E37, N2, R01, R20, R32, R59, Y02, Y15, YG41, YR02, YR04, YR68

Saturday Steampunk 3-19-2011

Hello, all! Here we are on another Steampunk Saturday! I am a huge Nathan Fillion fan. I watch Castle every Monday and I loved Firefly. Wish the networks would bring it back! The Science Network is actually airing reruns of it, so at least that is a start! Lol! Then Nathan Fillion was featured on this week's Entertainment Weekly cover and I was inspired to do a page about that awesome, amazing show. I watched a couple of episodes to get inspired and noticed the connection of steampunk to the show. The aesthetic of the show is a cross between old westerns and space travel. So here is my page dedicated to one of my favorite television shows of all time! Firefly!

Firefly layout. I found this photo on the Internet and I loved the panoramic look to it so I used it for this page. The papers are from the Tim Holtz Lost and Found paper stack. I used my Cricut Expression and the Indie Art cartridge to cut out the gears. I misted the background with Lindy's Stamp Gang Burnt Umber Moon Shadow Mist. The stars are stamped on with a star stamp and Adirondack Heirloom Gold paint dabber. The dots are Heirloom Gold and Pearl paint.

I also made some gears using a mold I made and UTEE in platinum and bronze. Here is a link to my tutorial on how to make your own embellishments with UTEE: http://scrapsofdarkness.com/TutorialUTEEembel.html.
