Pinspirational! ~May 13~

Hello, all! I'd like to share some awesome news! I am now a part of the {PIN}spirational Challenges Design Team! Yay! I have kept an eye on the challenges at {PIN}spirational Challenges for a while now and thought how much fun it would be to join in. Well, I have been quite busy and to tell you the truth, I am THE biggest procrastinator. So when the opportunity knocked, I sais what the heck, I can just give it a go and see if they accept me as a DT and they did!!!

So happy! Now I HAVE to play along! Lol. The challenges are easy to follow: just get inspired by the {PIN}spirational Photo and have at it!

Go visit the {PIN}spirational Challenge Blog to view all the details, and sponsors, and of course, inspiration!

Here is the {PIN}spirational Photo for this week:

And here is the card, I created using this {PIN}spiration!

I used one of our sponsors' (KQR Stampede) images for this. Aren't those flowers adorable?! Loved coloring them all bright colors! I used a grass border punch, some DCWV papers, and some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo; to give it a more worn look.

Gods in Love Special Release!

Hello, everyone! I have something awesome to share with you today! A new release of Simply B Stamps is happening!

These stamps were meant for release much later but because Betty needs to raise money for her son's therapy she is releasing them in digi form early. They will only be available in digi form until Friday. After that they will be released in rubber only in January. So get them in digi form while you can!

I recieved these two awesome images to work with for this release; Hades Christian and Persephone Lola!

You Set My Heart on FIRE. This hot young man is Hades Christian. He is soooo cute! I love him and his heart of flames!

My World Turns COLD Without You Near. This enchanting lady is Persephone Lola. I love her innocence! I created the sentiment to reflect the Greek myth of Perephone and her mother, Demeter, who was supposed to have been so saddened by her daughter's kindnapping that she created Fall and Winter on Earth.

For more peaks at the stamps in this special release, please visit my fellow SBS DT members, Erin and Corinne!

Smudgy Antics Challenge and C.S.I

Hello, all! It's time for another Smudgy Antics Challenge! This week's challenge is "Tall, Dark, and Gruesome." To view all the details, prize, and DT examples, click here. These challenges are loads of fun and a great way to think outside the box!

Here is my creation for this challenge:

Predator and Prey Card. To fit the topic for this week's challenge, I used this image from the Smitten collection from Smeared Ink. Which is the predator and which is the prey? Lol. I used some My Mind's Eye papers, ribbon, and roses I had in my stash and colored the image with Copics. Then I added Stickles for some added glam. I also used Lindy's Stamp Gang Rudolph's Nose Red Mist and Ruby Red Liquid Pearls. I used my Dymo to create the title. The large rose is covered in Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Be Positive.

I have another project to share with you today. I previously mentioned an awesome new challenge site called C.S.I. (Color, Stories, Inspiration). This is my project for Case File 2!

Beginnings Layout: Case File 02. A layout documenting my recent weight loss of 35 lbs. I used the Mariposa stack from DCWV for this with some lavender cardstock. The gates are from Dusty Attic, which I painted white with Snow Cap Adirondack paint, and the flowers are various ones from Prima, Petaloo, and Recollections. I used liquid pearls in many colors to accentuate the flourishes and lattice on the paper. The alphas are Thickers.

12 Layouts of Alice - Layout #4

Hello, all! I am here to share with you a couple of layouts I created for some challenges; the Skeletons in the Closet challenge over at Scraps of Darkness, which was to listen to the song "Iris" and scrap whatever you felt while listening to it; and my very own Steampunk challenge over at scrapbook.com (This one is barely on time since today is the last day of the challenge but I really wanted to share it.) This page is also for my series of 12 Layouts of Alice - Layout #4, based on Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas.

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas 2010 - Tag # 4.

Good To Be Queen Layout. This is my layout based on Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas 2010 - Tag #4. I found the image of the Queen of Hearts on the Internet by an artist called CVY. The throne is from a stock photo. I added lots of glam and glitz for this one, along with the gears and jewels.

Hidden Layout. This page is for the Skeletons in the Closet challenge at Scraps of Darkness. The challenge was to scrap what I felt when I listened to the song "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls and we weren't allowed to use a personal photo. This image is by an artist called ScarletGothica. The song reminded me of all the hidden feelings I had as a child and how someone can have something tearing them apart from the inside. I used my Now and Zen kit from Scraps of Darkness and some flowers I had in my stash, along with liquid pearls and Scarlet Glimmer Mist.

Monochromatic Monday 4-18-2011

Hello, all! I can't stay long but wanted to drop off my Monochromatic page for today. I have a lot of assignments for my class and not much time to finish them! This week's color is Lilac Bush Purple with the twist of adding as many butterflies as you can.

Cuteness layout. This is a photo of my youngest daughter with our dog, Attila, when he was a puppy. He was such a darling little thing! To get as many butterflies as I could on this page, I stamped the background full of them then cut some in various sizes to glue on. I also stitched some flowers onto the paper using my Bazzill In Stitch'z templates and some purple embroidery floss. The flowers are Prima and 7 Gypsies (Thanks to Pat aka Gentlewood Farms for those!).

Saturday Steampunk 4-2-2011

Hello, all! I have a few pages to share with you today! Starting off with a steampunky page that will be an example at my Steampunk Challenge at scrapbook.com. Then I have a few more to share that are based on sketches (a couple of which did not make deadline since I've caring for my son, who caught strep throat). So here we go:
April Showers layout. This is a page I created as an example for my Steampunk Challenge. The topic this month is April Showers. The flowers in the claw foot tub are photos of the roses I have in my front garden. I used basic textured green cardstock for the base and distressed the edges and stained them with Distress Stain in Vintage Photo. The floral paper is from Tim Holtz's Lost and Found paper pack. The pipes, tub, and shower head are all images from Internet. The title is made up of two styles of Thickers.

April Showers Close Up 1. I used some rhinestones and Glossy Accents on the flowers and out of the shower to simulate water. I also used various stamps with Vintage Photo and Forest Moss Distress Inks.

April Showers Close Up 2. Here  close up of the shower head and the water droplets coming from it.

Sketch #093 from Twisted Sketches from 3-24-2011. The twist was "swirl," any way.

Maria layout. I completed this page using the Twisted Sketches Sketch #093 and for the Grungey Monday Challenge at Studio L3. This page was inspired by Tim Holtz's 2008 #10 Tag. I used a Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen as a mask, Fired Brick, Vintage Photo, and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks, Grungeboard flourishes, Prima Symphony Flowers, Lindy's Stamp Gang Gold Embossing Power, Forever Red Perfect Pearl Mist, Thickers, and a page from my DCWV Immortal Love stack (music paper).

The Color Room Palette #51.

Color Riot layout. This is not my typical style but I thought all the paint splatters were fitting. These are all photos of the colors of our house when we first bought it. All but a few were painted over. I used the sketch from The Color Room that went with the palette and used plenty of paint and Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China, and Fired Brick. I wet distressed all the paper squares and circle.

Pages in Time Blog Thursday Sketch 3-24- 2011.

Playground layout. This was based on the Pages in Time Blog Thursday Sketch for 3-24-2011. I used Echo Park papers and stickers for this. The photos are of my son playing at the park's playground. I am loving Echo Park papers more and more! I inked the edges of the papers with Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, and Spiced Marmalade.

Saturday Steampunk

Hello, all! And welcome to another Saturday Steampunk! I have a project to share with you that I have been planning to do for a while but haven't had the chance to complete until recently. I had planned to make this around Valentine's Day but here we are more than a month later! Lol! I'm also sharing a layout I did for a couple of challenges below.

Steampunk Heart Ornament. This started off as a paper mache heart; which you can find at most craft stores. I cut slits in the heart where I wanted gears to come out. I covered the entire heart in Bronze UTEE and heated it until I got this hammered metal look. I used hot glue to set the gears in place in the slits (Gears are from Tim Holtz and 7 Gypsies). Then I add some ribbon roses I made and assorted Prima flowers in aquas and oranges, plus some more gears. I cut out a butterfly from some Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante (which is what inspired the color scheme) paper and glued it onto the flowers.

Friendship layout. This layout was created to enter in the Scrap Your Faves Challenge (Lift of Kaye222's Cute As A Button) and the Cosmo Cricket Challenge at scrapbook.com. The Cosmo Cricket papers I used are all from the Halfway Cafe Collection. I used my Cricut Expression to cute the circles, frame, and background, the title is Thickers Glitter Rainboots and the flowers are Prima. And of course, I added Stickles in Turquoise.

Correction: I was notified that the above layout was not allowed into the Cosmo Cricket Challenge because it was not 90% Cosmo Cricket products. Oh, Well!

Monochromatic Monday 3-14-2011

Hello, all! And welcome to another Monochromatic Monday. Today I have a layout I made to go with the Monochrome Challenge's Week 2 - Bright Yellow with the twist of lots of flowers. While I was looking for photos to go with this color, I came upon these and the yellow in the cake stuck with me. This is my eldest daughter on her 17th birthday and I thought how cheery the color and occasion were. I also created this one to enter in the Scraplift 101 Challenge - lift of Daddy Time by Akentuckygal.

17th layout. Yellow is a difficult color for me but I really loved how these yellows came together. The ribbon was something I found in my stash and thought would be perfect for this. I used Yellow Stickles, some Prima flowers, my Cricut Expression, and some vinyl Thickers.

Tea Time Tuesday 2-8-2011

Hello, all! I have something really fun to share with you! At least it was really fun to create! Over at The Altered Alice Blog they are running their first monthly challenge since taking over for the Oh! Alice Blog. Here is the challenge in there words:

To reflect all these puzzling changes, the challenge is to make something that features a dress form, OR to make something that changes in form! While it is not required that your project include Alice in Wonderland, we do encourage it. If your project does feature Wonderland you will get two chances in the prize drawing instead of one!

I thought about doing a dress form on my project but I'm not really into the dress form craze that is going on right now and so I began thinking of something that changes form. What better thing than a caterpillar changing into a butterfly?! So I took that idea and used a fabulous sketch over at the Pages In Time Blog and designed this page below. Look carefully because the caterpillar changes into a butterfly in the next picture. Following the photo of the page, I'll show you how I did it.

Sketch for Thursday Sketch at the Pages in Time blog.

Metamorphosis (caterpillar) layout. Using the beautiful sketch from Thursday Sketches at the Pages in Time Blog, I created a base for my design. This is the caterpillar part.

Metamorphosis (In Between) layout. There is a "wheel" underneath the striped green paper on which both the caterpillar and the butterfly are on and as you turn it, the charachter "changes".

Metamorphosis (butterfly) layout. Here is my version of the butterfly the Disney Caterpillar turned into in the movie. I used many flowers from my stash, The Paper Studios Basics papers, Thickers, and a whole lot of stickles. (Sorry my watermark navigated itself onto the photo, lol).

So this is where I started with this idea. I used a regular little eyelet to fasten my "wheel" to the background.

Here is where I realized that if I kept the wheel where it was, my characters would bever fit. So I moved the circle over some.

This is the green striped paper strip for over the wheel. I added quite a few layers of mounting tape to make sure it was raised enough.

This is me arranging things and testing the wheel mechanism.

Here you can see that I love using Stickles! Lol! The butterfly wings are stamped and cut out and glued on a different color of caterpillar.

This is a close-up of the face on the flower. I made it with a push mold and modeling clay and painted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in Northern Lights
