Monochromatic Monday 4-18-2011

Hello, all! I can't stay long but wanted to drop off my Monochromatic page for today. I have a lot of assignments for my class and not much time to finish them! This week's color is Lilac Bush Purple with the twist of adding as many butterflies as you can.

Cuteness layout. This is a photo of my youngest daughter with our dog, Attila, when he was a puppy. He was such a darling little thing! To get as many butterflies as I could on this page, I stamped the background full of them then cut some in various sizes to glue on. I also stitched some flowers onto the paper using my Bazzill In Stitch'z templates and some purple embroidery floss. The flowers are Prima and 7 Gypsies (Thanks to Pat aka Gentlewood Farms for those!).

Monochromatic Monday 3-28-2011

Hello, all! Today is the last Monochromatic Monday this month! I am usually very excited at the end of the month because of the anticipation of finding out the next month's colors. I can't wait! lol! This month, the Monochrome Challenge at scrapbook.com had 5 colors, one for every week plus a bonus one. The first four were Fuchsia, Bright Yellow, Bluebird Blue, and Kelly Green. The bonus selections was whichever color you that made you think of spring with the twist of Irish Folklore or Tale. For me, the color that screams spring is turquoise! It's so bright and energetic! I used a Creative Scrappers Sketch created by Amarylis. Here is my entry for the bonus selection with the twist:

A Toast layout. I chose turquoise for my bonus color and used the My Mind's Eye Lush 2 Collection, Thickers Glitter Rainboots alphas, and an assortment of Prima flowers. I also used a sketch created by my friend and fellow Deliciously Distressed Diva, Amarylis. She created it for the Creative Scrapper - sketch #147. This is a photo of my husband with his best friend having some fun playing drinking games. The journaling says "There are several good reasons for drinking and one has just entered my head. If a man can't drink when he's living, then how the heck can he drink when he's dead?"  which is an Irish toast.

Monochromatic Monday

Hello, all! Just stopping in really quick today to share a monochromatic layout! I am in the middle of helping my eldest daughter move out of one apartment and into another, so my sleeves are rolled up and my ponytail is in full swing! lol! Getting tired but it must be done! So for the Monochrome Challenge over at scrapbook.com the 4th Week was Bright Bluebird Blue with the twist of "Let's All Sing."

Lullabye & Goodnight layout (I realize that Lullaby is misspelled but I wanted it that way! Lol!). This is my son with my BFF while she was pregnant. My son wouldn't leave her side while she was expecting and this day he was so tired that he fell asleep on her. All the papers are from Tim Holtz' Vintage Shabby paper stack. The letters are Thickers and I used some ribbon, Faded Jeans Distress Ink, and Baby Blue Stickles.

Monochromatic Monday 3-14-2011

Hello, all! And welcome to another Monochromatic Monday. Today I have a layout I made to go with the Monochrome Challenge's Week 2 - Bright Yellow with the twist of lots of flowers. While I was looking for photos to go with this color, I came upon these and the yellow in the cake stuck with me. This is my eldest daughter on her 17th birthday and I thought how cheery the color and occasion were. I also created this one to enter in the Scraplift 101 Challenge - lift of Daddy Time by Akentuckygal.

17th layout. Yellow is a difficult color for me but I really loved how these yellows came together. The ribbon was something I found in my stash and thought would be perfect for this. I used Yellow Stickles, some Prima flowers, my Cricut Expression, and some vinyl Thickers.

Monochromatic Monday 2-28-2011

Hello, all! This is a jam-packed Monochromatic Monday! I am sharing three layouts today. I made a mistake in Week 1 of The Monochrome Challenge at scrapbook.com. The challenge was to use light blue if you lived north of the equator and bright yellow if you lived south of the equator (the twist was Looking Out My Back Door) but when I read the description I just got as far as north and south and since I live in Texas, I thought I had to do a yellow layout. Well, I was extremely mistaken! Lol! So I created a light blue layout to exchange it with the yellow.

Winter's Gift layout. These are photos of my back yard last year when snow fell in February. It was out first year back in Texas and this gave my family a little taste of what we missed about Wisconsin. I used a sketch from Punky Scraps for this page. The papers are My Mind's Eye and I used my Cricut Expression to cut the snowflakes out. I also covered all the white parts with Star Dust Stickles.

Week 3 of the Monochrome Challenge was to use an all neutral palette with a bird twist. My favorite neutrals to use are black and white and I had just the photos I wanted to use of this sweet little cardinal that visited my house every day.

Tweet layout. This is a cardinal that would visit my house every day. Isn't he a beauty? I used the Meadow Lark collection of papers for this and added some fabric and paper roses. The title is made of Thickers and I stamped a flourish design with Staz-On Opaque Cotton White Ink. I used Stickles in Black Diamond to form the circle. This page is also a lift for the Scraplift 101 Challenge; a lift of Create by Craftysprinkles.

The last week of the Monochrome Challenge was to use your birthday colors from Colorstrology; both the month and the day. My colors were Coral Blush (July) and Lilac Marble (08). I wish my colors had been more to my taste but I did my best with these.

Cake layout. This is me on my first birthday. The photos actually went really well with the papers and colors I chose to use. I used my February Scraps of Darkness kit for this. I was so lucky that the colors I needed were provided for me so coincidentally! I distressed the edges of all the papers with my Distrezz-It-All and used almost an entire package of Prima Symphony Blend flowers, plus some Prima E-line pearl bling, and some beaded trim. I used Lavender Stickles around the page as well and some old puffy sticker alphas I had in my stash. This page is also a lift for the Scraplift 101 Challenge at scrapbook.com; the lift is of Kissed by the Wind by CathyLane.

My Attempt at Blog Organization

Hello, all! I have been neglecting my blog for a while now. When I first started blogging, I made a new entry at least 2 or 3 times a week, if not more. Now I don't post for more than a week! I thought it would be a good idea if I motivated myself by setting guidelines for posting and this is how I am going to do it: So that I post my pages and such on a more timely basis, I will have designated days when I will post.

Monochromatic Mondays - I love creating monochromatic pages! They are fun and for me, it makes it easy to combine a whole mess of papers and embellishments from different companies and lines. The Monochrome Challenge over at scrapbook.com is one of my favorites and was the inspiration for this day. Be sure to check the Monochrome Challenge over at sb.com, hosted by GentlewoodFarms (Pat). Every Monday I will share a Monochromatic page (or project) that I have created. I'll post the colors for the month with my first page of the month. Feel free to leave a link to your own monochromatic pages by leaving a link in a comment here any time! I would love to see what you've created!

Tea Time Tuesday - Some of you all ready know this, but I love anything and everything to do with Alice in Wonderland! My house has decor that reminds me of the story and my scraproom has a Wonderland theme! So I decided that I would set aside a day for my Wonderland-y projects or interesting things I discover about Alice along the way. Feel free to leave a link to your own Wonderland-y pages or projects by leaving a link in a comment here any time! I would love to see what you've created!

Whatever Wednesday - This day will be a sort of catch-all for me. There will be no rhyme or reason to the things I share on this day. Sketches, challenges, cards, projects;  it could be anything!

Thursday and Friday - These days will be my unofficial days off from blogging (unless I have something I just have to share, lol!) so that I can concentrate on school work. Blah, I hate homework!

Saturday Steampunk - Saturday will be my Steampunk day! I love the Steampunk style in everything from clothing and jewelry to scrapbooking and altered art. So I picked Saturday to share any Steampunk inspired pages and projects that I've created. I may throw in anything interesting I find that is Steampunk related! Again, feel free to leave a link to your own Steampunk pages or projects by leaving a link in a comment here any time! I would love to see what you've created!

Sunday - Will be another day off to spend with my family.

So all this starts tomorrow, February 1st, in my attempt to organize myself a bit online. I hope you'll stop by and visit, at least from time to time!
