Tea Time Tuesday 4-12-2011

Hello, all! Today I'm not sharing a scrapbook page with you. But I have something fun for you to see! I was searching the web for Alice in Wonderland merchandise and I came upon these lamps! These are perfect for the Wonderland enthusiast or anyone who likes mushrooms, fairy tales, and the woods!

These cute little lamps come in a set of one large and two small and run on AA and AAA batteries. They were so adorable that I could not resist and bought them for my Alice in Wonderland themed scraproom! You can see these and a bunch of cool home decor stuff at Modcloth.com under "apartment."

Monochromatic Monday 4-11-2011

Hello, all! Boy, I can tell you this college stuff is getting difficult! LOL! I finally finished my paper for my class and got some time to scrap! I've been chomping at the bit to get in my scraproom again! So my project for today is for week 2 of the Monochrome Challenge over at scrapbook.com. This week's color is Robin's Egg Blue with a twist of using something new and fresh. There is a neutral palette allowed in this challenge which consists of beige, brown, black, navy, white and grey. And so I used some browns in this layout but let me tell you, I feel guilty! Lol! I always try to use only the main color given for each Monochrome challenge but this week I just couldn't find enough Robin's Egg Blue paper to use. So here is my semi-monochromatic page.

Just Us Girls Layout. For this page I used papers from the DCWV Green Stack. I used Prima flowers, some flowers cut with the Cricut out of the same papers, and some My Mind's Eye flowers I've had in my stash for a very long time. I used Cinnamon and Baby Blue Stickles and Thickers for my title. The photo is of me and my daughters, my cousin's daughters, one of my aunts, and my grandmother when I went to visit them one year.

Steampunk Saturday {Sunday}

Hello, all! Well, my homework has once again gotten the better of me and I missed posting yesterday's Steampunk Saturday layout because I was busy trying to write a paper due on Monday. Not only that but one of the circuit breakers for my house broke and I spent all day yesterday trying to figure out how to replace it! I'm so glad I have an electrician cousin living near me; he's coming over some time today to replace it.

Now on to my project! I used the Studio L3's Grungy Monday technique for this past week on this and I must say that I am completely happy about the results. Now in his technique, Tim Holtz describes making your own foam stamps and that is what I did (I used my new Vagabond!). The fun part is that I've been looking for gear stamps and the ones I've found are either not to my liking or too expensive. Now I have some that I love!

Steampunk Gears Foam Stamps.

Making Memories Layout. I used the Matte Medium Resist Technique from Tim Holtz to create the background, along with Bo Bunny Timepiece Paper and Embellishments, Thickers, Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, and some 7 Gypsies Gears.

Whatever Wednesday 4-6-2011

Hello, all! I've been working on some Scraps of Darkness DT projects and having a ball playing with this month's kit. April's kit is my favorite so far so hopefully I can do it justice. But I've also been working on pages for various challenges. Today I have a page based on the Thursday sketch over at Pages in Time Blog for 3-31-2011. Another Easter page, since that is what has been on my mind lately! Lol!

Pages in Time Thursday Sketch for 3-31-2011.

Easter 2001 layout. These are photos of my daughters and my BFF's daughter on Easter in 2001. I used Reminisce's Happy Easter 2010 Collection and some yellow Thickers. I also stamped the yellow cardstock using Scattered Straw and some Easter stamps, and edged the papers with Broken China, Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, and Scattered Straw.

Tea Time Tuesday 4-5-2011

Hello, all! I am having one of those tiresome days. The ones that seem to go on forever and you start of tired... I took my kids to the movies to see HOP and I've had Easter on the brain for a week now. So here is an Easter page to share:

First Easter layout. This is a photo of my eldest daughter on her first Easter. She was extremely spoiled by me and all her grandparents! Check out all those Easter baskets! I've said before that the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland reminds me of the Easter Bunny so I used some of my Reminisce Paper "I'm Late" and the Fairy Tale Icon Stickers. I also added some pleated ribbon and Thickers covered in Star Dust Stickles.

Monochromatic Monday

Hello, all! Here we are at the start of a new month of Monochromatic Mondays! As you know, I participate in the Monochrome Challenge over at scrapbook.com and there is a designated color for each week. This month, the palette includes Bunny Nose Pink, Robin's Egg Blue, Lilac Bush Purple, and Easter Basket Grass Green! All pastels! And let me tell you I usually shy away from pastels. I do use them on occasion but I find them difficult to work with on the most part. Give me dark, rich colors any day but pastels, no way! Lol! So the first week is Bunny Nose Pink. For this particular layout I used the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays for the week of 3-31-2011.

Sketchy Thursdays sketch for 3-31-2011.

My Heart layout. This is for the Monochrome Challenge Week 1 - Bunny Nose Pink with the twist of using as many triangles in your layout as you can. I created one triangle with the three flowers at the bottom, one triangle with the different flower positions, and at least thirteen triangles can be made from the Stickles dots. This is a photo of my youngest daughter when she was a baby. In fact, this is probably my favorite baby picture of her. That dress was actually a pink dress with a white pinafore and I loved putting it on her. And her curly hair was like a crown on her head at the time.

Saturday Steampunk 4-2-2011

Hello, all! I have a few pages to share with you today! Starting off with a steampunky page that will be an example at my Steampunk Challenge at scrapbook.com. Then I have a few more to share that are based on sketches (a couple of which did not make deadline since I've caring for my son, who caught strep throat). So here we go:
April Showers layout. This is a page I created as an example for my Steampunk Challenge. The topic this month is April Showers. The flowers in the claw foot tub are photos of the roses I have in my front garden. I used basic textured green cardstock for the base and distressed the edges and stained them with Distress Stain in Vintage Photo. The floral paper is from Tim Holtz's Lost and Found paper pack. The pipes, tub, and shower head are all images from Internet. The title is made up of two styles of Thickers.

April Showers Close Up 1. I used some rhinestones and Glossy Accents on the flowers and out of the shower to simulate water. I also used various stamps with Vintage Photo and Forest Moss Distress Inks.

April Showers Close Up 2. Here  close up of the shower head and the water droplets coming from it.

Sketch #093 from Twisted Sketches from 3-24-2011. The twist was "swirl," any way.

Maria layout. I completed this page using the Twisted Sketches Sketch #093 and for the Grungey Monday Challenge at Studio L3. This page was inspired by Tim Holtz's 2008 #10 Tag. I used a Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen as a mask, Fired Brick, Vintage Photo, and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks, Grungeboard flourishes, Prima Symphony Flowers, Lindy's Stamp Gang Gold Embossing Power, Forever Red Perfect Pearl Mist, Thickers, and a page from my DCWV Immortal Love stack (music paper).

The Color Room Palette #51.

Color Riot layout. This is not my typical style but I thought all the paint splatters were fitting. These are all photos of the colors of our house when we first bought it. All but a few were painted over. I used the sketch from The Color Room that went with the palette and used plenty of paint and Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China, and Fired Brick. I wet distressed all the paper squares and circle.

Pages in Time Blog Thursday Sketch 3-24- 2011.

Playground layout. This was based on the Pages in Time Blog Thursday Sketch for 3-24-2011. I used Echo Park papers and stickers for this. The photos are of my son playing at the park's playground. I am loving Echo Park papers more and more! I inked the edges of the papers with Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, and Spiced Marmalade.
