Hello, all! Today I'm not sharing a scrapbook page with you. But I have something fun for you to see! I was searching the web for Alice in Wonderland merchandise and I came upon these lamps! These are perfect for the Wonderland enthusiast or anyone who likes mushrooms, fairy tales, and the woods!

These cute little lamps come in a set of one large and two small and run on AA and AAA batteries. They were so adorable that I could not resist and bought them for my Alice in Wonderland themed scraproom! You can see these and a bunch of cool home decor stuff at Modcloth.com under "apartment." 

Tea Time Tuesday 4-5-2011

Hello, all! I am having one of those tiresome days. The ones that seem to go on forever and you start of tired... I took my kids to the movies to see HOP and I've had Easter on the brain for a week now. So here is an Easter page to share:

First Easter layout. This is a photo of my eldest daughter on her first Easter. She was extremely spoiled by me and all her grandparents! Check out all those Easter baskets! I've said before that the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland reminds me of the Easter Bunny so I used some of my Reminisce Paper "I'm Late" and the Fairy Tale Icon Stickers. I also added some pleated ribbon and Thickers covered in Star Dust Stickles.

Tea Time Tuesday 3-19-2011

Hello, all! What a fabulous morning! I am finally relaxed after finishing up a large amount of homework for my ethics class and I just got some scrappy goodies to play with, so you know what I'll be doing today! But first I must share with you a Wonderland-inspired project that I've been wanting to complete for some time now. It was even on my Unfinished Projects list for Becky's Unfinished Projects Challenge over at Becky's Bits N Pieces from a couple of month's ago! Well I finally got the supplies I needed and I created my very own custom memo board for my scraproom!

Before:

This is the memo board before. I bought it on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I love the whimsical look of the frame so I thought it was perfect for what I wanted to do.

After:

Wonderland-Inspired Memo Board. I added batting, covered it with checkered fabric, ran red ribbon in a crisscross pattern and trim around the edges, then added buttons for a tufted look. Now I can hold pictures, notes, and whatnot in my scraproom. And it has places to hold some photos, too!

Tea Time Tuesday and March Scraps of Darkness Kit Release

Hello, all! What a wonderful day for sharing some scrappy projects! Today is also the release of the Scraps of Darkness March kit release! The name of the kit is Vintage Revelry! I want to tell you this month's kit was a lot of fun to work with; full of Paper Loft and Graphic 45 papers, Prima flowers in metal and fabric, and tons of extra goodies to embellish your pages. I actually used my March kit to complete a Wonderland-y project (more on that in a bit). Here is the March Kit - Vintage Revelry!

Scraps of Darkness March Sketch

Chic layout. My take on the March Scraps of Darkness Sketch. The Graphic 45 Curtain Call line really plays up French drama and I wanted to add a little drama to my page. I used Moon Shadow Mist by Lindy's Stamp Gang in Gossamer Gold from my kit on all the flowers and used my UTEE melting pot to melt bronze UTEE and make the mask and roses in molds (A tutorial for how to make your own embellishments and molds is below). I used the gold embossing powder from the kit on the flourished I cut out of cardstock. I also used UTEE to cover the Kaisercraft birdcage. The pin on this page was made exclusively for Scraps of Darkness by Craftysprinkles aka Mandy.

The Pot of Gold at the End of My Rainbow layout. I was in the St. Paddy's Day mood and came up with this page. The pot is an image from the Internet. The papers are Bazzill Fresh Kiwi and Graphic 45 Curtain Call Leading Ladies from my March SOD kit.. The clover is made of hearts cut with my Cricut Expression, the rainbow is made of buttons from my stash, and the title is from my ever growing stash of Thickers.

Family - Etched in Our Memories layout. The Vintage Revelry kit really inspired me to create heritage layouts. These photos are of my father-in-law's parents. I wanted to really focus on the photos and the vintage look so I used lace trim, Paper Loft For The Record Family Tree and Journal papers, and some Paper Loft Words and Titles. I also used my Fiskars Threading Water border punch with some Bazzill Coal cardstock, Rainboots Thickers, and a flower I made (a link for a tutorial for this flower is below).

So Vain layout. When I saw the Graphic 45 Curtain Call Moulin Rouge B side pattern of peacock feathers, I saw the opportunity to scrap some of my peacock photos from the many trips to the zoo my family has taken. The large photo and the feather photo are not mine though, lol! Mine were not very pretty and I wanted to show the true splendor of the bird. The smaller photo at the bottom is mine. The color add-on for the March kit is amazing!!! The color on the peacock paper is Starburst's Tibetan Poppy Teal by Lindy's Stamp Gang. You should see the shimmer on this in real life! I used the Bazzill Fresh Kiwi cardstock, some gorgeous and bright Prima flowers, a Kaisercraft birdcage; all from the kit, some fuchsia cardstock with various border punches, Stickles in Lime Green and Distress Stickles in Worn Lipstick, Fabric Thickers, and some lacey trim I had.

Beauteous layout. Another heritage layout form this month's SOD kit! I loved the vintage feel to all these papers and I just had to scrap another old photo. This is my father-in-laws mother. The journaling reads "This is Grandpa Gil's mother. We don't know much about her, except that she was loved." I used the Moon Shadow's Gossamer Gold Mist on the flowers and for the masking on the cardstock. I also used a Prima fabric flower, a couple of Prima metal flowers, and lace trim from the kit. The brown "pearl" embellishments are drops of UTEE from my melting pot. The crystal flourishes are from my stash and are colored with Adirondack Espresso Alcohol Ink.

Doorway to Wonderland Altered Album Outside. I wanted to create something for the Altered Alice Challenge this month which is about the Hall of Doors and part of the challenge was to create something with a door and an extra of having it open. So with my SOD March kit, I created this altered album. I bought an old scrapbook album at a flea market (Before picture is below the next photo) and decoupaged the entire thing with Modge Podge and the brown paper bags that the kit comes packaged in. I used Paper Loft For the Record Estate paper, a Graphic 45 door knob and plate, and a Prima butterfly from the kit. The forest moss and hinges are from my stash and I stamped and colored the mushrooms. I also added some additional wings to the butterfly, which I cut with my Cricut Expression and covered in Turquoise Stickles.

Doorway to Wonderland Altered Album Inside. This is the inside of my altered scrapbook. The photo is one of my favorite illustrations from the Alice in Wonderland book. There's something about that checkerboard field. I also added a cut out of the White Rabbit. All the flowers on this are from current and past Scraps of Darkness kits. I also added some stained wood flourishes at the corners. Don't know what I'll be using it for yet, but I'm thinking it will do quite nicely as an art journal.

Tea Time Tuesday

Hello, all! So I was wondering what to make for today's Tea Time and I was looking through my ever-growing paper stash and came upon some papers and stickers I bought quite a while back. I got the bright idea to make an Easter card from one of the stickers. I may be alone in this but I associate the White Rabbit with the Easter Bunny! I know I'm a little obsessed. Lol!

Time for Easter card. I used Bazzill Swiss Dot cardstock in blue, pink and white cardstock, and pink striped paper. I punched the paper with a lacey border punch; die cut some shapes for the sentiment base and title letters; added ribbon and bow, some mini roses, and a ton of stickles in Waterfall, Distress Worn Lipstick, and Stardust.

Tea Time Tuesday 3-1-2011

Hello, all! And welcome to another Tea Time Tuesday! Today I have a page based on a sketch from Pages in Time's Blog Thursday sketches. I know today is the first day of March and spring is just around the corner, so I decided to create something with the March Hare! I have to admit that I love the newest version of the March Hare from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland! He is so adorabley nuts!

March is the Perfect Time 4 Tea layout. I flipped the sketch upside down and added photos of a tea set I have, bought long ago on a whim, that I love so much! I used Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland papers and some tea pot and cup stamps with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and Lime Green Stickles. The title letters are from two different sets of Thickers, one which I covered in Lime Green Stickles. The image of the March Hare is from the movie which I got off the Internet.

Tea Time Tuesday 2-15-2011 and Scraps of Darkness DT Release

Hello, all! Got a lot of projects to share with you today! Today is the 15th so I'll be showing you what I've been working on for Scraps of Darkness! There are quite a few layouts and a couple of cards, most of which have to do with Valentine's Day in one way or another. Let's get started shall we! First, here is the project I completed for Tea Time Tuesday. I used my February Scraps of Darkness kit for this! As many of you all ready know, The Queen of Hearts/Red Queen is my favorite character from Alice in Wonderland! And when I saw this image I knew I had to scrap it! The artist is Sandra Vargas and I think she did an amazing job with this cartoon version of the queen!

The Red Queen layout. You know the first thing I thought of when I saw this diamond patterned paper in my SOD Feb. kit was that I had to use it for something Alice-inspired! I used black and deep red Bazzill cardstocks along with the diamond paper from the Theresa Collins Noel collection and I distressed the edges with my Zutter Distrezz-It-All. I used my Cricut Expression for the hearts and distressed those as well. I colored the beaded trim (originally white), the black flower (originally peach), and some of the title letters (also originally white) with Stiletto Glimmer Glam and the large rose (originally orange) and the rest of the letters with Be Positive Glimmer Glam. I also stamped some suit symbols and embossed them, the metal frame, and pieces of the background with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. The diamond mirrors and the small black letters are also from the kit.

Here is a look at the February Scraps of Darkness kit, which was revealed on February 4th. A little early so everyone could get their Valentine's Day projects done in time for the big day!

  

The February Main Kit. This kit had everything for those Darkly Decadent Valentine and Love pages!

The February Patterned Paper Add-On. I LOVE the patterns on these! The colors are so rich and luscious!

The Cardstock Add-on. Great Bazzill papers in coordinating colors!

The Romance Add-On. Amazing embellishments to add some sparkle and bling to your pages!

The Color Add-On. My favorite add-on! I love this because the colors always coordinate perfectly with the kit and I can change anything to a different color if I need or want to!

Here is a wonderful sketch from Suepup aka Charlotte, the new sketch designer at SOD! Gorgeous isn't it?!

My Own Valentine layout. Here is my take on February's SOD sketch. I turned it upside down and left out the circle. I love diamond and damask patterns! Love this paper! Used my We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy tool to stitch the scallops, colored the pleated trim (originally white) with Be Positive Glimmer Glam and the Thickers Merry foam title with Staz-On Jet Black Ink. I also colored the flowers with the Be Positive Glimmer Glam which is quickly becoming my favorite color! Used a bling flourish, metal frame, and ornate trim from the kit and added some Christmas Red Stickles from my stash. The reason I titled it My Own Valentine is because my husband is oversees and I'll be spending this Valentine's Day without him.

Love/Hate Relationship layout. This is my pom, Attila, with my BFF's dog, Charlie. Charlie weighs about 70 lbs more than Attila but yet they still get along well, except when they want the same toy. That's where I got the title from. lol! I distressed the edges of the papers with my Distrezz-It-All, stamped flourishes on the pink paper and added some skull borders on the black. I added foam letters and flowers from my stash. The black and white flowers are from the kit.

My Drama Queen layout. This is my eldest daughter making faces at the camera. She is my very own drama queen and the journaling says something to the effect that although she has caused us all grief she is a caring and loving person and we wouldn't want her any other way. Everything but the title letters and flowers underneath the roses is from the SOD kit. And I used some of my stamps on the pink papers.

My Drama Queen Close-Up. I added a crown to the fairy's head and Magenta Stickles to her wings to make her more queen-like.

Valentine's Day Card 1. I made this card for one of my son's teachers. Lots of border punching and stickles!

Valentine's Day Card 2. I made this card for my son's other teacher. I used a doilie, some cutout hearts, ribbon, and Stickles for this one.

Sweetheart layout. Okay, this one took me hours to make! Why, you ask? The double heart frame for the photo is made up of tiny little hearts that I punched out with one of my border punches (there is a close-up of this below). The stamping and inking I did with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. Now, why would I take the trouble? Well, one I like the mosaic look to it and two, there is a challenge over at scrapbook.com called the Obnoxious-Obscene-Overload Challenge and the challenge is to use as much of the named embellishment as possible. For February, the embellishment is hearts. So not only did I stamp a ton of hearts on the paper and I don't think that counts toward the final count but I punched out all these tiny hearts to use them on one big embellishment. I sure hope this counts! There are over 625 hearts on there! Yes, I counted! LOL!

Tea Time Tuesday 2-8-2011

Hello, all! I have something really fun to share with you! At least it was really fun to create! Over at The Altered Alice Blog they are running their first monthly challenge since taking over for the Oh! Alice Blog. Here is the challenge in there words:

To reflect all these puzzling changes, the challenge is to make something that features a dress form, OR to make something that changes in form! While it is not required that your project include Alice in Wonderland, we do encourage it. If your project does feature Wonderland you will get two chances in the prize drawing instead of one!


I thought about doing a dress form on my project but I'm not really into the dress form craze that is going on right now and so I began thinking of something that changes form. What better thing than a caterpillar changing into a butterfly?! So I took that idea and used a fabulous sketch over at the Pages In Time Blog and designed this page below. Look carefully because the caterpillar changes into a butterfly in the next picture. Following the photo of the page, I'll show you how I did it.

Sketch for Thursday Sketch at the Pages in Time blog. 

Metamorphosis (caterpillar) layout. Using the beautiful sketch from Thursday Sketches at the Pages in Time Blog, I created a base for my design. This is the caterpillar part.

Metamorphosis (In Between) layout. There is a "wheel" underneath the striped green paper on which both the caterpillar and the butterfly are on and as you turn it, the charachter "changes".

Metamorphosis (butterfly) layout. Here is my version of the butterfly the Disney Caterpillar turned into in the movie. I used many flowers from my stash, The Paper Studios Basics papers, Thickers, and a whole lot of stickles. (Sorry my watermark navigated itself onto the photo, lol).

So this is where I started with this idea. I used a regular little eyelet to fasten my "wheel" to the background.

Here is where I realized that if I kept the wheel where it was, my characters would bever fit. So I moved the circle over some.

This is the green striped paper strip for over the wheel. I added quite a few layers of mounting tape to make sure it was raised enough.

This is me arranging things and testing the wheel mechanism. 

Here you can see that I love using Stickles! Lol! The butterfly wings are stamped and cut out and glued on a different color of caterpillar.

This is a close-up of the face on the flower. I made it with a push mold and modeling clay and painted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in Northern Lights
